We human beings see so many wonderful things in the world; yet we often pass by, without the slightest sense of wonder, the most glorious part in all of creation, namely, ourselves.
Oh, human creature, do you not see?
Have you even given it a moment’s thought?
Do you not understand?
Do you not realize how wonderful you are?
How great, how highly exalted, how lofty, is your dignity!
You are the imago Dei, “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14, NIV). You are not a little higher than the animals. Rather, you are “a little lower than the angels” (Psalm 8:5). You are somebody, someone. Indeed, you are a creature of wonder, for you are a person.
