Minute Meditation on Love as the Ultimate Meaning of Life

I Corinthians 13:13

Love, which means “to will the good of another” human being, is the summum bonum, the “highest good.” Life without love is like lungs without air, hunger without food and thirst without water. In other words, life itself is incomplete without love. Without it, a person feels something missing from his or her life. Love makes life worthwhile – both for the person who gives it and the person who receives it. More than anything else in the world, love gives meaning to life. What is the ultimate meaning to life? The answer is not difficult for most of us, but it may- at times- be difficult to do: Love! Nothing in life is more satisfying, more ennobling, more enriching of a person’s humanity, than love. By experience, both the young and old know that! “And now these three remain – faith, hope and love; but the greatest of these is love” (I Corinthians 13:13)
